XQD is a media card format that was designed to be a successor to the CompactFlash card. XQD has been adopted by Nikon and was first incorporated into the D4 and D4S and subsequently into the D5, D500 and D850 DSLRs and Z 7 and Z 6 full-frame mirrorless cameras. CFast cards supporting the current CFast 1.1 specification are based on the Serial ATA Gen II interface (SATA-II) and support bus speeds up to 300MB/s. These cards have largely been used within industrial markets. The new CFast 2.0 specification expected to be released in CQ4, 2012 will support SATA-III with bus speeds up to 600MB/s.
